ARAHOVA FARMS Barrel Feta 77lb

Feta is the most well known traditional Greek cheese with written records showing its production during the Homeric era. The ARAHOVA FARM BARREL FETA proudly and respectfully continues this tradition, having the feta kept in a salt solution for at least 90 days within wooden barrels, at which stage it obtains all of its known characteristics. It is a soft cheese with no casing, white, pleasant in flavor, lightly sour, rich in aroma with no rind and a few uneven holes. What makes the Greek Barrel Feta so special? In a barrel the cheese can age longer, which enables it to develop more richness and complexity. This usually is referred to as a “sharp” or “cooked” flavor. Barrel-Aged Feta is the best way to go because it’s richer and creamier. The porousand permeable nature of the barrel allows for the unique flavor and texture development. Arahova is a majestic mountain region located at the center of Greece near Delphi, and it’s truly unique Feta Cheese has been designated as a Protected Designation of Origin (P.D.O.).
